About the position
This is a locally engaged staff position at an overseas Australian Diplomatic Mission.
The primary role of Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) is to equip and sustain the Australian Defence Force’s material capabilities to meet Australia’s defence and national security needs. The CASG Washington branch (CASG-W) manages the delivery of equipment, training, services and repairs from North America. The Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Directorate is the primary conduit between the Australian Government and United States Department of Defense (US DoD) for the procurement of Defence articles through the FMS Program, a unique government-to-government procurement arrangement. It also provides Defence clients with procurement support management, and specialist advice. The FMS Case Specialist will assist their immediate Supervisor (Senior FMS Case Manager) to manage a portfolio of FMS cases.

Applicants for this position may be eligible to apply for an A-2 visa on the basis of an offer of employment if they do not already fall into one of the employment eligibility categories listed:
- United States citizen, a United States lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder)
- Already possess an A-1 visa or an A-2 visa,
- Or have a dependant G-visa and a valid US employment authorisation document
A2 visas are valid for a period of 5 years and are non-renewable. Dependents of A2 visa holders are not eligible for Work Authorization in the United States.
This position is a designated security assessed position. Applicants must be citizens of Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand or United States to be eligible for engagement. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT recognised security clearance at baseline level. Security clearances can take several months to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate clearance is confirmed. There is no guarantee that the successful candidate for the position will be successful in obtaining a clearance. The inability to obtain a clearance prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.
