Job Summary
We're looking for a Companion/Care Provider for a 21 year old man with Tourette's Syndrome and autism. Work is in a fun relaxed atmosphere while gaining excellent hands on training & on the job coaching by prominent area specialists. Ideal training opportunity for students in educational psychology, psychology, special education, health or service oriented fields.
You’ll support activities of daily living to ensure task completion, and encourage social/recreation actives. This is a sweet, fun loving young adult with social & communication delay. Our aim is to increase his independence and improve his:
- Social & leisure skills (encouraging a variety indoor and outdoor recreational activities)
- Communication skills (disability impacts language proficiency)
- Self-advocacy skills
- Self-management skills
- Community navigation skills (walking to neighborhood parks, library, beach, shops)
- Personal safety skills (being aware of environment, i.e. looking both ways before crossing, etc.)
- Hygiene and grooming skills
Shifts are Mon-Thurs 2-6 pm, Su 9am-3pm

Requirements:
- Courses in child development, learning theory, abnormal psychology, & related fields are preferred.
- Previous implementation of positive behavior support plans for persons developmental disabilities is preferred but on the job coaching and training is provided.
- Must have good organization & communication skills, ability to problem solve.
- Must be a fluent English speaker
- Must have reliable transportation, live within a reasonable driving distance from downtown Kirkland
- Complete required documentation (background check and contract).
Salary and benefits:
- Convenience of working close to home, flexible hours, free continuing education, referral incentives, medical benefits, $19.66-$29.66 / hour depending on experience.
