Summary/Objective
The Collector I is responsible for the management and collections of a business to business accounts
receivable portfolio.
Essential Functions:
1) Contact customers and arrange payment to bring receivable customer balances within
acceptable guidelines and/or under existing credit limits.
2) Recommend accounts for 3rd party collections or write off when all collection efforts are
exhausted.
3) Work closely with internal stores to keep accounts current and maintain open lines of
communication.
4) Following-up on customer promises to bring accounts current.
5) Maintaining systematic notes of all collection activity
6) Initiating a problem resolution process on customer disputes.
7) Initiating credit holds within allowed guidelines.
8) Supporting the Cash Application department in reconciling discrepancies between customer
payments received and their respective statements.
9) Minimize the 120 collections category for reserve dollars.
Competencies:
1. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office / basic computer skills
2. Basic accounting knowledge, able to tell difference between debit and credit
3. Customer service skills and experience
4. Minimum 8,000 keystrokes per min; 40 WPM
5. Professional phone and email etiquette
6. Manage a fleet portfolio of > 4,500 invoices with a portfolio score of > 3M
7. Ability to build a strong relationship with customer contacts
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as
computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role with extended period looking at computer monitors and being on the
telephone.
Positon Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours may vary
depending on portfolio requirements.
