UNITE HERE HEALTH is seeking a Network Engineer to support and maintain the design and integrity of the network, including internal, external, hosted and cloud environments. This role will be responsible for supporting the network infrastructure, introducing enhancements, and be part of the design, implementation, and testing of systems and infrastructure in support of business needs. The Network Engineer will provide technical assistance to team members with high-level system and networking requests.
The Network Engineer will provide onsite and remote support, will work independently and as part of a team to urgently analyze technical issues, address escalations, work with the project manager on team related projects, on smaller requests/enhancements. This position will also be responsible for securing and managing network infrastructures to protect productivity, mitigate threats, and reduce costs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Independently oversees the design, configuration, installation, and test of IT network systems primarily consisting of Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, HP, and MS Windows based LAN/WANs
- Point of contact with consultants and vendors on architecture design
- Assists in the planning of larger scale system projects and develops detailed designs with supporting implementation test and transition plans
- Work with cross functional teams to communicate the engineering design plan in support of the development and deployment of network plans, upgrades, and enhancements
- Administers capacity management of currently deployed IP devices, probes, applications, licenses and links
- Designs, integrates, develops and tests data networking solutions for voice and data networks
- Works with new architectures and product introduction to make them standard implemented solutions in the network
- Work with security team to analyze and assess vulnerabilities in the infrastructure (software, hardware, networks), investigate available tools and countermeasures to remedy the detected vulnerabilities and recommends solutions and best practices
- Work with security team to analyze and assess damage to the data/infrastructure because of security incidents, examine available recovery tools and processes and recommend solutions
- Stay abreast of technical trends and directions in the technology and investment management vendor communities and identify new opportunities for use of this technology
- Educates the technical team and appropriate management in use of the technologies
- Executes capacity planning and monitoring processes for technologies
- Develops, monitors, reports and presents key infrastructure performance metrics for technologies
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) relied upon to resolve issues: Break/Fix (Level 2/3):
- Chronic Issue Resolution: Assists as a member of an assigned resolution task force
- Monitors incident and problem management tickets to look for patterns and raise awareness
- Drives periodic health checks with technology vendors
- Develops dashboards, metrics and benchmarks for the technology
- Develops lifecycle processes around the technology deployed
- Develops technology overviews and roadmaps in conjunction with technology vendors
- Creates and maintains documentation and designs
- Develops and documents the service architecture
- Participates in on call rotation
- Sets goals and achieve measurable results
- Contributes ideas to plans and achieving department goals

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
Years of Experience and Knowledge
- 5 ~ 7 years of direct experience minimum
- Working knowledge and experience in supporting and maintaining technologies in scope
- Experience in working with vendors for technology enhancements and solutions
- Strong background and understanding of the technical direction in this space and the prevailing standards
- Proven history of being able to influence business and IT peers and management in the decision making process
- Experience with connecting securely to remote hosted and cloud providers a plus
- Experience in a virtualized environment
- Demonstrable knowledge of network architecture, design, operational support
- Basic knowledge of Windows and UNIX security with operations support and troubleshooting
Education, Licenses, and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience required
- Preferred: Certification in CCNP
