ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist on-sight inspection, testing and reconditioning of electric motors and generators as directed by Wind Energy Field Service Technician
- Assist Wind Energy Field Technician in on-site disassembly and installation of electric motors and generators
- Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects to perform work duties
- Assist in conducting surge, insulation power factor and Hi-potential testing as directed by Wind Energy Field Service Technician 2 or 3.
- Assist in performing alignment, precision balancing, calibration, scheduled cleaning and predictive and corrective maintenance services and repair on various types of wind turbines as directed by Wind Energy Field Service Technician
- Assist in the collection of data and report to field office
- Assist in completion required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection)
- Assist in the insurance that proper tools and necessary equipment are available and in good condition to perform the required work efficiently
- Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor
- Assist other technicians or other personnel in skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor or plant manager
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to travel out-of-town and overnight on a regular basis
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods
- Ability to understand, perform and retain various skill-related training and operational and safety procedures demonstrated by supervisor
- Ability to work at or above 240 feet for extended periods of time, adhering to strict safety guidelines
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration, high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:
- The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Ability to work at or above 240 feet for extended periods of time, adhering to strict safety guidelines
