What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Analyst, Gas Supply position at Avangrid?
Avangrid is seeking a Lead Analyst, Gas Supply to join their team in their Orange, CT location.
Purpose:
Conducts studies and forecasts of longer and larger magnitude, complexity and scope incorporating supply planning economics to determine least cost supply, transportation and storage portfolio. Prepares cost sheets for system requirements and to support off-system sales. Evaluates pipeline operating conditions to ensure system integrity. Working knowledge of nominations used on the Northeast Pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enters and tracks nominations on all Northeast Pipelines to ensure supplies are scheduled at 100%
- Prepares estimated gas costs and monthly accounting entries and reconciles actual gas bills to estimates. Prepares PGA and Deferred Gas Cost calculations for filing with PURA.
- Compiles input and runs supply planning model (Sendout TM) for special studies on gas cost and supply optimization.
- Tracks Company’s gas flow on its pipelines using EBB¿s for daily operations and billing purposes.
- Prepares bid packages or requests for proposal and work with suppliers and pipelines or term supplies and long term transportation arrangements.
- Prepares Volume Summary Sheet and Gas Cost Sheets, both of which are essential for the closing of the books.
- Monitors pipelines regulatory filings and FERC rulemaking and proceedings. May represent the Company in pipeline customer group meetings and negotiations.
- Reviews and processes gas invoices for payment.
- Prepares gas cost budget and variance reports. Tracks accounting of cash-out transactions and treatment in PGA.
- Special projects and studies as assigned.
Qualifications: (minimum qualifications for assignment to this job)
Education: BS/BA Degree Experience: 7 Years
Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration or related field preferred). Must be able to work independently. Must have quantitative and analytical skills. Strong database and spreadsheet skills.
Requires 7 years of related experience in gas supply planning and acquisition or financial management/accounting. Knowledge of gas supply purchasing procedures, financial management and accounting techniques/principles.
