Job Description

Avant Energy seeks to hire a Senior Generation Dispatcher/EnergyTrader to join our Market Operations team. Previous energy industry experience required. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate, has an interest in energy, wants to learn, and can use economic principles to make good decisions. The Senior Energy Trader/Generation Dispatcher will work with a collaborative team in the Market Operations area to perform a variety of daily market activities.

Responsibilities include: performing daily Generation and Load market operations functions, energy market analyses, optimizing value of generation using economic decision-making abilities, executing market transactions and providing support on asset management activities to help meet client requirements and our overall objectives. The Senior Energy Trader/ Generation Dispatcher will need to become knowledgeable on our entire portfolio and will also be required to participate in an Avant on call rotation (with other market operations staff).

This is a full-time position reporting directly to the VP of Market Operations.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

·        Masters’ degree in Mathematics, Economics or Physics preferred          

·        4 years’ experience in an energy related position

·        Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel (experience with macros) and Access, along with exposure to basic computer programming

·        Results and outcome focused

·        Resilient and perseverant  

·        Competence with mathematics and technical concepts   

·        Works well with a team

·        Attention to details and accurate

·        Analytical and quantitative analysis skills

·        Ability to problem-solve and make good decisions

·        Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to organize and present information in a clear manner.

Compensation

Compensation includes a competitive base salary and an opportunity to earn an annual bonus.
