GENERATION DISPATCHER /ENERGY TRADER

Avant Energy seeks to hire an Energy Trader/Generation Dispatcher to join our Energy Market Operations team. Previous energy industry experience preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Energy Trader/Generation Dispatcher will work with a collaborative team in the Market Operations area to perform a variety of daily market activities. This person will be provided training and development (as needed) to be able to contribute to our comprehensive and environmentally friendly energy portfolio.

Responsibilities include: performing daily Generation and Load market operations functions, energy market analyses, optimizing value of generation using economic decision-making abilities, executing market transactions and providing support on asset management activities to help meet client requirements and our overall objectives. Candidate will need to become knowledgeable on our entire portfolio and gain an understanding of industry practices and market rules. Candidate will also be required to participate in Avant on call rotation.

This is a full-time position reporting directly to the VP of Market Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

• Bachelors’ degree in Mathematics, Economics or Physics preferred
• 2-4 years of experience in energy markets (energy market operations, data analysis, statistics, energy accounting)    
• Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel (experience with macros) and Access, along with exposure to basic computer programming
• Results and outcome focused
• Resilient and perseverant  
• Competence with mathematics and technical concepts   
• Works well with a team
• Attention to details and accurate
• Analytical and quantitative analysis skills
• Ability to problem-solve and make good decisions
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to organize and present information in a clear manner.
