AVANTech, LLC solves some of the most challenging problems in the water industry – from being first responders to the Fukushima Nuclear Plant meltdown to implementing patented first-of-its-kind technology. Our projects include industrial water recycling at government sites. AVANTech’s goal is to improve the environment around us and support our clients with innovative sustainable water treatment solutions. We are seeking an experienced Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
Compensation and Benefits:
Monday – Thursday (9-hour days), Half Day on Friday.
Monday – Friday (8-hour days).
Hybrid Work environment. Employees shall have the option of both in-office work and remote work access based on company needs and employee schedule.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will have an integral role in helping AVANTech design and implement water treatment systems across the globe. Your role in this process will include the review and approval of various design documents including 3D system models, 2D manufacturing drawings, technical reports, and design calculations. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with project managers, electrical engineers, chemical engineers, and junior-level mechanical engineers to develop creative solutions to solve problems in the water treatment industry. This is an upper-level mechanical engineering position with opportunities for advancement based on productivity, efficiency, and experience.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assess and clarify project specifications to establish design/engineering scope and technical requirements.
- Ensure mechanical design compliance with Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID).
- Produce conceptual designs from client specifications and develop both basic and detailed engineering documentation.
- Perform and document design calculations to ensure design is compliant with client specifications and applicable codes and standards.
- Assist with the preparation of scope, cost, and schedules for future project/tasks.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers, vendors, and technical representatives for specification of various mechanical systems and components to support overall project design.
- Ensure compliance of various design documents with AVANTech Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) program.
- Interact with manufacturing team members to optimize mechanical design. Manufacturing team members can include welders, pipe fitters, painters, operators, and quality assurance personnel.
- Possess the ability to implement various design codes and standards. These standards shall include, but not be limited to, pressure vessel (ASME Section VIII Div.1), piping (ASME B31.3), structural (ASCE 7 / AISC Steel Construction Manual), and welding codes (AWS D1.1 / AWS D1.6).
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical or design engineering.
- P.E. preferred, not required.
- Ability to work with others in a cooperative team environment.
- General knowledge of Creo or SOLIDWORKS is highly preferred.
- Working experience in performing classical closed-form calculations while using Mathcad.
- The Senior Mechanical Engineer must possess strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Positive attitude and excellent work ethic.
