By bringing procurement experience to Avantor the Buyer will:

• Be responsible for procurement of assigned items
• Stay alert to procurement opportunities that improve processes and contributes innovative ideas for innovation
• Participate in process improvement projects
• Partner with peers to support supply chain standard operating procedures (SOP)
• Execute buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon material buying plans at the optimum cost/quality
• Utilize negotiating skills as a key owner of the supplier relationship
• Proactively analyze and makes suggestions to the planning team with regards to current supplier deliveries
• Identify supply chain constraints (disruptions in supply) by acting as liaison between Customer Service and suppliers
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Experience (Two years):

• Procurement
• MS office suite to include analyzing large data sets
• Expediting, cancelling /deferring and ensuring system generated and manual purchase orders are aligned to support customer need dates and communication throughout the organization as required

Preferred Experience (Two years):

• APICS/CPIM certification
• Matrix environment
• Formal problem-solving training, i.e., Six Sigma
• Owning/ resolving the tactical supply chain issues such as backorder resolution, open order expediting, lead time management, supplier production issues
• Supplier planning session
• Work with suppliers to improve delivery dates and lead time

Minimum Education Requirement:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
