Job Purpose:

The Assistant Laboratory Manager reports to the Laboratory Manager in overseeing the laboratory functions. The Assistant Laboratory Manager is responsible for coordinating the activities required of the laboratory while staying within the guidelines of accreditation. The individual will also monitor and advise on the performance of the quality management system, as well as produce data and generate reports on performance. When appropriate, the assistant laboratory manager will advise on changes and the implementation of new training, tools, and techniques to ensure others achieve quality standards. The Assistant Laboratory Manager serves as the technical manager.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

• Ensure software and computers are up to date according to the client’s requirements
• Procedures are established and implement for protecting the integrity and security of data.
• Annually reviewing equipment records to ensure that they are kept up to date.
• Ensure utilizing the Validation Workflow in Policy and Procedure manual
• Responsible for taking the initial action for gathering and verifying all information regarding complaints and appeals from users and determine proper actions.
• Ensure that the assigned tasks are appropriate to the position and completed both timely and accurately.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and provide input for the development and enhancement of analytical methods and quality assurance policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all documents requested by the Quality Assurance Manager be forwarded in a timely manner.
• Maintain a strong familiarity with quality policies, procedures, and requirements of accreditation.
• Provide input to management in the development and enhancement of quality policies and procedures.
• Coordinate, monitor, evaluate and approve the use of new technologies, equipment, and procedures through appropriate validations.
• Consult with management and assist with the resolution of technical issues through fact finding, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective action plans when warranted.
• Fulfill any other responsibilities as described in the Quality Assurance Manual and Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Responsible for managing the training program and ensuring the objectives of the Training Program are being met.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills.

• Desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.
• Ability to troubleshoot/solve problem operational issues.
• Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• AA/BS/BA degree in Forensic Science, Business Administration or a related discipline
• Fluency in a second language

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
• Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
