Aventura at the Bay is seeking a qualified CNA-Unit Clerk for our rehab unit. We are seeking a responsible, reliable CNA to fulfill these duties.

Job Responsibilities :

Ensuring patient records are filled out and accurate.

Following security measures to ensure patients' information is safe and confidential.

Managing discharge documents, patient health history forms, admission and discharge documents and other paperwork.

Helping colleagues enter patient data into databases.

Coordinate the network of information passing between healthcare personnel.

Transcribing written medical orders from healthcare staff into a computer system.

In order to become a successful unit clerk, you need to have the following skills :

Greets clients / patients / public to department / unit.

Provides telephone support (e.g., takes messages, pages staff, directs calls, provides information).

Books appointments (e.g., emergency surgery, laboratory tests, external appointments).

Provides travel coordination for patients (e.g., appointments, transfers).

Assembles and disassembles charts.

Labels charts.

Audits charts for accuracy.

Requests, picks up and returns Health Records.

Completes applicable paperwork for admissions, discharges and transfers.

Assembles discharge and special needs packages.

Performs data entry and word processing (e.g., reports, letters).

Escorts clients / patients / residents to appointments.

Tracks status of patient care throughout patient’s emergency department visit.

Fills relief shifts.

Qualifications :

A valid CNA Certification in Florida.

Clerical skills : Having previous office or administrative experience can be helpful for this role since you are in charge of many clerical duties.

When working as a unit clerk, you need to be able to effectively manage multiple tasks at a time, such as data entry filing, answering phone calls and greeting patients.

Communication : Both written and verbal communication skills are crucial for this role. You need to be able to clearly convey your ideas and positively interact with others.

Computer skills : Since this job involves a lot of administrative work, you're going to be working on a computer for a good portion of your day.

That's why unit clerks need computer skills to enter data, schedule appointments, fill orders, transcribe paperwork and respond to emails.

Customer service : Much of this job involves interacting with patients in person and over the phone. Your customer service skills can help you provide excellent care to patients who need your assistance.

Unit clerks need to be personable and helpful to those they interact with.

Organization : Since you are working will important information and all kinds of paperwork, it's quite important to have strong organizational skills.

You need to ensure files are in order and that you are always getting patient records to the right people.

Prioritizing : As a unit clerk, you're going to have many tasks to manage at once. By having the ability to prioritize and manage your tasks, you can get everything done efficiently and in a timely manager.

Successful unit clerks know how to do tasks in order of importance.

  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in a health care setting; long-term care setting preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care and rehabilitation.
  • Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
  • Ability to deal with new tasks without the benefit of written procedures.
  • Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with fellow employees, visitors, and vendors.
