What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner [CL] position at Avera?
- Provides emergency department call coverage according to employment agreement, with the support of supervising physician. This is includes one on one training, and charting/documentation review.
- Provides medical services and health education to patients with regards to the age specific populations including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics in the emergency department, and clinic setting as needed with the support of a supervising physician.
- Examines the patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
- Administers and/or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, mental health, and health maintenance.
- Collaborates hospital personnel to promote quality care for patients. Assures that appropriate referrals are made for patients. Provides quality care for patient, demonstrates appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices.
- Maintains accurate and detailed patient charting in the electronic medical record.
- Practices under the rules and regulations of their licensure under the State of Nebraska.

Schedule: Part Time, Varied Shifts, 7am-7am; 2 days per week; one in 7 weekends
