Job Description

Avery Dennison is currently hiring a Quality Engineer to join our Performance Tapes facility located in Mount Juliet, TN. In this role, you will be passionate about leading the Complaint Handling, Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) processes as well as the implementation of Quality Systems. This position requires the ability to drive improvement across multiple functional areas, through committed root cause discovery and analysis. Good judgment skills are vital to ensure the appropriate balance of quality, compliance, and business needs.

In this meaningful role you will also be responsible for:

  • Handle customer complaints and customer communication from receipt to closure
  • Coordinate quality matters related to customer quality such as product complaint, customer claim (credit note), CAPA report evaluation and submission, follow-up to assess the effectiveness of corrective actions and preventive actions.
  • Provide internal production quality support related to issue resolution, product quality/risk assessment and product disposition.
  • Provide plant quality support and representation in new product development, spec reviews and approvals, scale up, design transfer, and facility validation activities.
  • Provide assistance in the QA lab to perform product testing if required
  • Ability to work across functional boundaries and collaborate with these business fields in a significant manner - laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing functions as needed to carry out assignments.
  • Provides production support of a quality/statistical data analysis nature (SPC).
  • Provide assistance and/or coordinate the plant metrology system.
  • Develop vital quality standards (procedures) and requirements for suppliers.
  • Plan and lead MSA studies for all measurement and attribute inspections.
  • Provides training and quality support to the production areas
  • Conducts quality audits for products, processes, and if required suppliers
  • Leads problem-solving and continuous improvement projects
  • Develop systemic improvements to the plant quality system
  • Provide mentorship in the development and maintenance of the site Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Lead, mentor, and develop quality team members to achieve peak performance.
  • Other duties as deemed vital.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • 2-5 years experience in Quality or similar fields.
  • Good statistical background with Minitab knowledge
  • Experience balancing multiple responsibilities with minimal direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills.
  • Able to effectively work with various functions and levels within the organization.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and TS16949 is a plus
  • Six Sigma Training or certification is helpful
  • Experience with SPC and MSA programs are a plus
