Job Title and Overview
Avery’s Modern Teahouse is a non-profit business focused on providing job opportunities and job development to individuals with disabilities.
As the Assistant Manager at Avery’s Modern Teahouse, you will be managing staff and providing job support to individuals with disabilities. You will play a pivotal role in daily operations, customer service, job development, and event planning. The Assistant Manager will take the lead on hosted events such as bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, you name it! You'll support a diverse team dedicated to creating a warm, inviting atmosphere where every guest feels valued and appreciated.
Essential Job Functions
On sight (30 hours per week)
- Work alongside the manager to oversee teahouse operations, ensuring exceptional service, and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests.
- Support and supervise teahouse staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Engage in day-to-day tasks, such as crafting wonderful coffee, tea, and food, inventory management, restocking, and upholding high-quality standards for our products and supplies.
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the manager to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, cleanliness, and operational excellence.
- Have availability to cover shifts as needed.
- Manage the teahouse and staff during events.
Remote (10 hours per week **Dependent on in person work)
- Develop and implement event plans and strategies to enhance customer engagement and drive business growth.
- Collaborate with the manager on business development initiatives, including marketing campaigns, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.
- Manage administrative tasks remotely.
- Support the manager in devising and implementing policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Compensation
$36,000 Annual Salary with 5% bonus on events.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience in the food and beverage industry is preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Passion for people and a desire to create memorable experiences for customers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead, support, and motivate a diverse team.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn, with a positive attitude towards working in an inclusive environment.

Working Conditions
- Hours of work: In Person at the Teahouse: Wed-Fri 12-5:30p, Sat 8:30a-5:30p, Sun 9:30a-1:30p *subject to change depending on event times and coverage *Teahouse hours are 7-5 T-F, 9-5 Sat, 9-1 Sun, shifts will include 30 minutes before open and after close to ensure cleaning is done appropriately. Remote: Flexible
