Job Summary:
Avfuel is a global aviation supplier of fuel and services doing business in 140 countries and we need your help to continue our growth. As a result of a recent promotion, we are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our dynamic Finance team. This position plays a crucial role in the overall financial management of the organization and will work closely with the Controller and other members of the finance and operation teams. The right candidate will be a highly driven individual with the desire to learn and grow in a challenging and fast paced environment. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department including management of accounting staff
- Support the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Management of fuel inventory reconciliation and resolution process
- Participate in budget creation, reporting and variance analysis
- Lead the annual audit process
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, local, state, and federal regulations
- Evaluate and implement new accounting procedures and internal controls to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to keep yourself organized, prioritize duties and meet deadlines
- Ability to notice inconsistencies and errors in data and work product
- Roll-up your sleeves, can do mentality
- Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions
- Function independently and require limited day-to-day supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CMA designation preferred
- 5-7 years’ experience in accounting, ideally with 2 years public accounting experience
