• Job Summary*

**
Under the direction of the Senior Color Designer, the Color Matcher creates color formulations to meet customer requirements, troubleshooting and problem solving.
*Essential Functions*
*

• Creates formulations that meet the customer’s requirements in a timely and cost effective manner.
• Completes color design using the appropriate combination of different additives, pigments, dyes, and polymers.
• Injection Molder operation.
• Analytical scale operation.
• Ensures formulations comply to customer’s specifications, such as medical, FDA, weather, and other requirements.
• Problem solves and troubleshoots.
• Enters data into SAP.
• Uses spectrophotometer to store match data into the color computer system.
• Follows applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and guidelines. Uses appropriate protective equipment.
• Ensures required paperwork is completed properly and accurately.
• Performs other tasks as requested.

Qualifications*
*Education and Experience*

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• Excellent math skills
• Injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming experience a plus

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to pass a color Munsell FM 100 hue test

Technical Competence

• Color Design/Matching skills
• Injection molding and/or extrusion processing skills or knowledge of other processing methods a plus
• Capability to think outside the box and work on cutting edge concepts
• Proficiency with color software and SAP a plus
• Understanding of plastics materials and compounding processes is a plus
• Performs work with speed and accuracy.
• Adheres to internal Avient policies and rules. Interprets Technical Data sheets (TDS) / Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and provide proper instruction

• Strong communication skills required, both oral and written (technical and non-technical)
• Able to present ideas and results in a logical manner
• Responds to emails/calls and provides detailed reports in appropriate fashion and timeframe.
• Understands project purpose and commitment required. Able to present ideas and results in a logical manner.
• Can effectively communicate technical information with other functions that are non-technical.
• Receptive to other ideas and feedback.
• Works seamlessly with others without difficulty.

• The individual will be required to work extensively in a lab standing/walking and will, at times, sit at a desk for extended periods.
