Job Description
The Auto, General Liability and/or Worker’s Compensation Risk Manager will develop, implement, and manage activities of AWP’s comprehensive Risk Management Program to ultimately reduce overall costs associated with the Risk Program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; Risk Identification and evaluation claims management, administering the auto, general liability and worker’s compensation, actively participating on the Safety Committee, and maintaining claim loss statistics and trends.
- Administer the Auto, General Liability and/or Worker’s Compensation program for AWP.
- Identify exposure through the evaluation of claim loss statistics and trends.
- Prepare the Auto, General Liability and/or Worker’s Compensation program budget.
- Review and analyze operational activities and make recommendations to accomplish desired Risk Management goals
- Provide support and direction to the Safety Committee and takes a leadership role in reducing the frequency and severity of employee incidents and injuries
- Communicate claim costs and reserve information to senior management and financial auditors as necessary
- Advise departments about the status of claims, loss experience trends, and program costs
- Direct and monitor the activities and performance of TPA and legal counsel
- Manage the early Return-to-Work program
- Develop and provide or arrange training programs relating to auto, general liability and/or worker’s compensation laws, benefits, policies, and loss control
- Determine actual time missed from work due to work-related injuries and illnesses and provides accurate information to meet OSHA record-keeping requirements
- Develop and maintain close communication with medical providers providing services for injured employees and serves as the liaison between medical providers, injured employees, and department supervisors
- Communicate benefits and program goals with department managers and injured workers for the purpose of loss control
- Review and approve all claim settlements proposed by the third-party claims adjusting administrator
- Develop, implement, and monitor claims reporting forms, procedures, and activities
- Select and contract for third-party claims adjusting administration and other program-related services and products
- Select and participate in relevant discount programs for worker’s comp such, e.g., drug-free workplace program, individual retro program, and other timely/relevant programs
- Remain current on changes to laws and regulations
- Coordinate with departments to ensure follow-through on appropriate corrective action for Worker’s Compensation Claims which may include discipline, changing policies, changing PPE, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience in Worker’s Compensation Claims Management
- Knowledge of principles and practices of employee safety, light duty, and return-to-work programs
- Strong competency and understanding of Data research, collection, and analysis techniques, and the preparation of oral and written reports.
- Experience with Claims processing techniques.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated skills in analyzing, classifying, and rating risks, exposure, and loss expectancies.
- Ability to negotiate and influence others.
- Understanding of how to develop comprehensive plans to satisfy future loss prevention needs.
- Expect a 40 hour work week, occasional weekends, and holidays
- Hours of operation may vary based on staffing needs and workload
