Overview
We’re hiring a senior test engineer to lead our test team at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) hypervelocity ballistic ranges in Tullahoma, TN. Axient is the AEDC Technical Management and Advisory Services (TMAS) contractor. We advise and assist test and evaluation, test management, and analysis efforts at a number of AEDC locations across the country. This position involves working closely with a diverse team to plan, execute, and report on testing at the largest light gas gun facilities in the nation. Responsibilities
- Working with minimal supervision to lead testing efforts at the AEDC hypervelocity ballistic ranges, in a variety of technical areas including:
- Ballistics
- Impact modeling, hyrdocode
- Erosion
- Light gas gun predictive modeling
- Data uncertainty
- Optics
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary government and contractor team to plan, test, analyze, and report through multiple program acquisition phases by:
- Working with test customer to define test requirements, objectives, and facility configuration.
- Leading team during the test planning and installation process.
- Directing test activities and verifying test readiness.
- Advising/assisting the government and customer during the test process.
- Assisting in preparation of quick-look reports and detailed technical reports for the customer.
- Reviewing state-of-the-art test techniques in literature and applying them to specific project requirements.
- Supporting test development efforts to advance our light gas gun capabilities.
- Learning and effectively using a variety of government and in-house simulation codes and analysis tools.
- Working in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing/balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
Qualifications
- 10 years’ experience in an applicable field; advanced degrees may be substituted for experience.
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
- Must be proficient in Matlab or Python.
- Must demonstrate effective, clear, concise oral and written communication at the appropriate level.
- Must be timely and efficient.
- Must produce quality work that meets project/program objectives.
- Must exhibit and foster cooperation and teamwork, enhance customer relations, and actively promote rapport with customers.
- Must utilize resources effectively to accomplish mission.
- Must demonstrate focused adherence to safety and security requirements in an office-based environment.
- Must be able to obtain or have an active and transferrable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance.
