Axient is looking for a Java Software Engineer to support our customer, the 96 RNCS at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida 32542. **US Citizenship and Secret Security Clearance Required**
The 96th Range Control Squadron Operations involve the real-time tracking and control of aircraft and weapons in flight data collection, and data processing for real-time and post-mission system under test performance analysis.
This position has the unique opportunity to be involved with ground-level experience on architecture that has the potential to revolutionize the telemetry processing for live fire open-air test and evaluation.
What you will do...
- All software development will be completed with JAVA.
- The ideal candidate has a fluid working knowledge of JAVA.
- You will have a solid proficiency in Java, understanding of Java GUIs, ideally JAVA FX, and strong knowledge of Windows OS.
- Experience in design, development, and testing of user interfaces.
- You will have the experience to solve software problems single-handedly or in cooperation with other engineers.
- You will be able to own the entire SDLC from software design, development, documentation, testing, and debugging.
- You will have the ability to work alone; individually, without supervision.
- Provide Architectural Guidance to ensure maintainability of the current
- Contribute to software project planning activities by translating business requirements, specifications, and system user needs into usable and scalable software.
- Provide solutions to a variety of complex technical problems.
- Ensure software standards are met.
- Communicate status with leadership and customers.
- TSPI (RADAR/GPS) along with live open-air T&E exposure would be fantastic!
Skills you will need...
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or other relevant field with 3 years of progressive, relevant experience (may also be substituted with government approval)
- Familiarity with object-oriented design and ability to engage with and mentor peer software engineers.
- Comfort using SOLID design principles to enable other software engineers to develop and maintain your code efficiently.
- Must hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance with the last investigation within 6 years and be able to maintain required clearance.
