Overview We are currently seeking a Technician in our Tool, Stock, and Equipment Room to join our team at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Wind Tunnel Testing Facility (AFRL/RQVX) . Responsibilities AFRL/RQVX provides wind tunnel testing services for customers within the aerospace community. The testing facility consists of a full spectrum of wind tunnel types and sizes that all require complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and high-pressure systems to generate various air speeds involved in the research. Our multi-building facility includes an on-site logistics office and satellite locations that support the technicians who operate the tunnels. Within the logistics office, we have an opening for a Technician in the Tool, Stock, and Equipment Room. The primary duties are detailed below, but basically include managing our supply of tools, stock, and equipment to make sure internal customers have what they need for proper facility operation. Secondary duties that also fall under this position include, but are not limited to, covering the Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Program as well as the Industrial Safety Program. Finally, there will also be an expectation to become familiar with other duties covered by the three-person logistics team for times when co-workers are unavailable or an "all-hands-on-deck" approach is needed. Such functions include, but are not limited to, shipping/receiving, HazMat control, and TMDE. Note that this position is covered under the Service Contract Act, such that wage determination provisions apply with regard to hourly pay scales, paid vacation, and sick leave. Primary Duties: * Tool, Stock, and Equipment Management * The Candidate shall manage and administer a comprehensive tool, stock, and equipment program in accordance with Air Force procedures, instructions, and local procedures. * The Candidate shall identify and acquire needed tools, stock, and equipment to accomplish research and maintenance activities. * The Candidate shall manually load or unload trucks or other transport devices; unpack, shelve, or place items in proper storage locations; transport items by hand-trucks or carts; maintain and perform basic assembly of tool kits; repair and maintain standard tools and accessories; identify replacement options for broken tools and accessories; and understand tool names and their function. * The Candidate shall provide training as needed in the proper use of each item, including unique considerations applicable to a non-standard, research environment. * The Candidate shall have the necessary communications skills for providing training on tool control and usage, and otherwise be the designated point of contact for the Tool Control Program. Secondary Duties: * Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Program * The Candidate shall ensure that all requirements of the Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Program are adhered to within the facility in accordance with Air Force procedures, instructions, and local procedures. * Industrial Safety Program * The Candidate shall ensure that all requirements of the Industrial Safety Program are adhered to in the facilities, IAW Air Force procedures, instructions, and local procedures. The Industrial Safety Program includes, but is not limited to, crane inspections and safety, hoists, lock-out/tag-out, lasers, aural/hearing, ladders, and fall protection. * Provide back-up for other technicians in the Logistics Office * The logistics office also covers HazMat control, shipping and receiving, test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), etc. * To minimize disruption, all logistics team members are expected to have a basic level of understanding of each other's job duties and provide coverage when co-workers are temporarily unavailable. Qualifications Physical Requirements and Abilities: * Minor lifting, carrying, and transporting of tools, stock, and other small industrial items * Ability to be at a desk for long periods of time, but also get out in the facility for inspection and customer service-related duties * Basic computer skills for updating/tracking purposes, tool/supply ordering, timekeeping, etc. General Skills and Attributes: * An appreciation for a well-supplied, organized, and accurate tool/stock room * Aptitude for cleanliness and organization * Customer service oriented with a friendly attitude toward team members * A general background or working knowledge of tools, stock, and equipment within an industrial environment Other Skills, Duties, or Qualifications (not required, but beneficial): * General background or experience in an industrial environment * Experience operating a forklift * Experience operating cranes, hoists, or other similar lifting devices Must meet applicable COVID safety requirements and protocols
