Overview
Axient is searching for candidates for a Senior Quality Engineer to support new entrant certification of the Vulcan and New Glenn Launch vehicle system. Candidate will support and sit in Axient office located in El Segundo, CA. The position supports the USSF Space Systems Command Assured Access to Space (SSC/AATS) Enterprise at Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA.
Responsibilities
- Work with launch vehicle provider to schedule and track audits to be performed during rocket certification activities
- Develop, conduct, and assess results of audits of flight critical item manufacture and processes per applicable military and industry/commercial quality standards such as AS9100D and SMC-S-003(T)
- Document these results/findings for government review and concurrence, in accordance with Manufacturing and Quality industry standards
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineer Lead, System Engineers, and Project Engineers to develop and conduct process audits, identify and track risks and risk mitigation plans
- Communicate activities across Quality Engineering team in multiple CONUS locations.

Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Quality Systems. Engineering, Math, or Physical Sciences; will consider higher education in lieu of experience and more experience in lieu of education.
- Relevant work experience in the military or industry will be considered in lieu of degree requirements
- 10 years of experience launch vehicle/space sub-system and process engineering expertise with a strong background in launch vehicle subsystems
- Experience involving producibility or manufacture of complex products; application of modern quality principles and methods including: quality management system standards, product and process controls, measurement and test, audits, statistical applications, corrective and preventive actions, and lean manufacturing.
- Experience interfacing with computer-based database and schedule tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present information in virtual and in-person environments.
- Experience with MS Office tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat is required. JIRA/Confluence experience is a plus
- Some CONUS travel required
- US Citizenship required
CLEARANCE: Must be able to obtain or have an active and transferrable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the Secret level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance
