What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator position at Axium Packaging?
Position Summary:
As part of the health and safety team, you will assist with developing safety and environmental programs that will support local operations, as well as the Axium Packaging enterprise. This position will hold primary responsibility for implementing plant-level activities related to occupational safety and health; ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and laws to prevent hazards, limit injuries, and reduce overall manufacturing risk. This position is expected to support Axium Packaging safety and environmental programs to educate all employees from individual contributors through leadership.
Key Position Responsibilities:
· Recommend improvement measures to the production process, which may include detailed report and performance records.
· Implement and maintain safety and environmental education training programs within the plant environment.
· Maintain and update existing safety procedures; ensuring standard operating procedures are up-to-date and communicated to employees.
· Monitor and maintain records required by environmental permits and regulations.
· Assist with hazard risk assessments for tasks or jobs to identify potential hazards and develop risk prevention plans to mitigate them.
· Review and analyze accident/injury reports and data for accuracy and detail, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
· Ensure that the company follows all federal, state and organization environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, and rules
· Facilitate and participate in safety meetings with plant personnel.
· Assist with reviewing the installation of new equipment to ensure it is set up for proper safety, and ergonomic considerations.
· Coordinate and/or assist with incident/accident investigations, hazard correction, and OSHA documentation.
· Assist with developing and implementing safety programs including, but not limited to: Lockout/Tagout, HAZCOMM, Fire Prevention, First Aid, Personal Protective Equipment, Hearing Conservation, Contractor Safety, etc.
· Develop and implement safety and environmental promotion materials, campaigns, and communication.
· Conduct workplace safety inspections.
· Support Human Resources on Worker’s Compensation cases.
· Provide positive coaching and feedback to employees.
· Develop training materials and coordinate facilitation & support of safety training.
· Periodically train employees in proper procedures and conduct periodic emergency evacuation drills to ensure planning is effective in practice.
· Assist with the establishment of PPE requirements based on the job-specific hazard assessments.
· Other duties as assigned.

· Strong leadership and training abilities.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production, and non-production areas of the plant grounds.
· May require work coverage beyond normal business hours and on weekends/holidays
· Must tolerate loud noises and conditions commonly found in manufacturing
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Lawrenceville, GA 30043: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Experience:
· EHS: A minimum of two years' experience as an EHS coordinator in a manufacturing environment. A bachelor’s degree in related field is Preferred.
