Pipefitter/Assembly Technician II

Job Duties:
- Plans layout, and installation in accordance with instructions or work requirements using drawings, blueprints, sketches, and manuals.
- Assembles various pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical parts on skids and panels.
- Measures, cuts, threads, assemble, and install tubing and piping: Moves parts into position. Aligns parts. Removes high spots and cuts bevels. Straightens warped or bent parts. Positions or tightens braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolts parts in positions for welding or riveting.
- Mounts, assembles, and installs parts for control panels, instruments, and associated control/sensing devices.
- Observes function of installed equipment and system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Repairs or replaces faulty piping, valves, instruments, and other devices.
- Assembles, disassembles, and performs inspection and testing of machines, equipment, and other products by following specifications, written procedures, and verbal instruction.
- Removes small quantities of metal to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
- Drills, taps, or reams holes.
- Align components, bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
- Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement.
- Documents non-conforming products
Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience running screw pipe. Skilled in using various hand tools and power tools for cutting, threading, bending, and welding pipes.
- Must be able to measure/cut/thread and install piping for hydraulic systems.
- Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with BOP control units a plus.
