As the Director of Project Management and Quality Assurance for our Enterprise Applications team, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of complex software projects and ensuring the highest level of quality in our enterprise applications, including ERP, CRM, enterprise integrations, and supporting systems. Your leadership and expertise will drive the team's performance, optimize project processes, and ensure adherence to quality standards, ultimately contributing to the company's overall success and growth.

What You'll Do

Location: Remotely from US OR Onsite at our Scottsdale, AZ HQ
Reports to: 
VP of Enterprise Applications
Direct Reports: 5-6 Account Managers

Project Management Leadership:

  • Lead a team of project managers and agile practitioners, providing mentorship, guidance, and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement portfolio and project management methodologies, best practices, and standardized processes to enhance project efficiency and collaboration.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and ensure successful project execution within budget and timelines.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and proactively implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project completion.
  • Drive standardization and adoption of portfolio and project management tooling using Azure DevOps, PPM Express, and others.

Quality Assurance

  • Establish a robust quality assurance framework for the development and testing of enterprise applications.
  • Define and enforce quality standards and ensure compliance with industry best practices and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality of deliverables throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Oversee the implementation of automated testing processes and tools to streamline QA procedures and increase overall product quality.

Team Management:

  • Hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team of project managers and QA professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages open communication and teamwork.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and other department heads to understand project requirements and priorities.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, resource allocation, and potential risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for escalations and conflict resolution related to project management and quality assurance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, and cost optimization within the Enterprise Applications Team.
  • Drive the adoption of agile methodologies and DevOps practices to improve development and delivery processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to project management and quality assurance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (10 years) in project management and quality assurance, preferably in enterprise application development.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience with project management tools, issue tracking systems, QA testing frameworks, and test automation tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on driving results and meeting project deadlines.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. PMP, Six Sigma, ISTQB) are advantageous

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 165,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 275,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 210,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 375,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
