Quality Engineer Jr
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is a highly motivated individual with a strong foundation for standard work, and operational excellence. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing processes in our assembly operations that not only will ensure the quality and efficiency of our growing manufacturing operation but will be key for developing and implementing a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS). The primary objective is to build a top-notch quality system that is adaptable and emphasizes preventive measures as the preferred approach to tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of an effective quality management system specifically designed for manufacturing our products, ensuring they meet and surpass customer standards.
- Develop and implement effective work instructions to ensure consistent quality and process adherence.
- Design and build fixtures and error-proofing devices to prevent defects and improve production efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify and eliminate the root causes of quality issues.
- Develop and implement process improvements using tools within Lean or Six Sigma (a plus).
- Utilize techniques like FMEA and PFMEA to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Analyze quality data using tools like Sigma XL, Minitab, and Power BI (a plus).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of quality.
- Provide support and leadership during the ongoing ISO 9000 transformation.
Desired skill and Experience:
- Two-three years of experience in a complex manufacturing environment (automotive, aerospace or semiconductor industry preferred).
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective work instructions.
- Experience with designing and building fixtures and error-proofing devices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
Education and other Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering, or a related field (or equivalent military or trade experience).
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to work standing for hours.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with our company policy.
