Job Summary
Ayr is looking for a Production Technician to work in our cultivation and grow facility to help set up and build a company that continues to help consumers to live their best lives.
Join the team as we venture to open new avenues in the Medical Marijuana space.
Duties and Responsibilities
Cultivation:
- Assists in all aspects of cultivation operations including trellising, pruning, spacing and overall canopy management.
- Ensures daily production schedule and goals set by Production Manager/Team Leads are met.
- Completes proper transplanting techniques including substrate mixing, container filling, and transplanting.
- Assists in the setup, monitoring, and maintenance of irrigation systems and environmental controls.
- Performs plant destruction and plant waste destruction in compliance with Ayr Wellness, local, and state policies.
- Accountable for accurate tracking and logging of all plants by utilizing the inventory tracking systems in compliance with AYR Wellness, local, and state policies.
- Maintains a high level of cleanliness of all Cultivation Equipment, Rooms, and areas as well as sanitation practices concerning handling of plants according to Company procedure.
- Performs plant propagation and orchestrating room sets.
- Creates Brother stickers for transplants and ensures all plants are properly tagged.
- Performs preventative spraying on a schedule as determined by the Head Grower.
Trimming:
- Hand trim guard and/or sugar leaves from cannabis plants before the drying process using shears, scissors, etc.
- Operate a trimming machine to remove guard and/or sugar leaves from cannabis
- Occasionally and as directed, manicure live medical cannabis plants to encourage better growth
- Breakdown flowers off stem and stalk of plant in order to separate unusable waste from useable product; employee must track the amount of unusable waste for each plant/batch
- After breakdown of plant, employee must identify and separate fan leaves, stems, and sugar leaves on the flower
- Employee must account for each by-product type processed off the flower, adding stems and fan leaves to "waste" for proper tracking and disposal by managers and trim/sugar leaves to "useable by-product" (trim) to the MIP
- Responsible for tracking the batches that they trim including the final finished product, the usable by-product amount (trim), and the unusable byproduct (waste) according to company policy and practices, as well as state and local laws and regulations
- Take instructions and help on tasks delegated by master and assistant growers
Packaging:
- Performs accurate filling, packaging, and labeling of all products ensuring compliance with company, local and state policies and procedures and product specifications.
- Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to ensure the safety and efficacy of all products.
- Ensure daily production schedule and goals set by Production Manager/Team Leads are met.
- Reports any potential contamination to a Team Lead immediately.
- Documents line inefficiencies and downtime to identify issues. Works in conjunction with others to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance department to ensure that process parameters and quality testing is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all production records, quality records and electronic reporting tools.
Inventory:
- Performing counts and verifying waste adjustments
- Logging information and assisting in transfers, pulling orders, weight checks
- Assists in fostering a positive work environment, treats everyone with dignity and respect, while perpetuating a curiosity for “everything cannabis”.
Extractions & Infusions:
- Dish prep/cleanup
- Weighing cannabis and infusions ingredients
- Log/tracking for extractions processes
- Pre/postproduction run preparations and edible production work
QA/Lab
- Sample pulling, label sample prep, data entry, and label checks
Qualifications
- Must meet minimum age requirements as outlined by state cannabis agency
- Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agency
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Education
- High school diploma/GED required
Experience
- 1-3 years in marijuana growing, cultivating, and trimming preferred
- Familiarity with warehouse procedures is a plus

Working conditions
This person will have extended cannabis exposure and may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree. This person will also be exposed to strong UVA/UVB lights in growing areas; UVA/UVB safety glasses and neckerchiefs will be provided to protect against these. Hours may exceed 40 hours per week.
Physical requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use repetitive use of hands, wrists, and forearms; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to meet job and operate equipment requirements.
- Fine visual acuity with the ability to adjust focus to inspect closely; ability to recognize different colors.
- Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties associated with functioning in this role.
- Pushing/pulling/carrying, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
