About the Opportunity
B Lab Global’s Product team is responsible for designing strategies, building roadmaps, and defining the future of B Lab’s technology products. Our goal is to deliver a complete product experience with insights from users, technology, and our business goals. We lead the process to design what gets built, communicate what is new, and measure the performance of our technical products. While our Product team collaborates across B Lab Global and our network of Global Partners, we work closest with the Global Technology team to ensure our strategies are built and implemented successfully. Currently, most of the Product and Technology team is located in the Greater Philadelphia region and Sāo Paulo.
As a relatively new team with big ambitions, our 2023 goal is to deliver on our collaborative user feedback strategy involving internal and external stakeholders across our network. To achieve a best-in-class experience for our external users, B Lab has empowered our internal teams by providing efficient and effective toolsets. The Product team has facilitated an array of understanding and ideation sessions to work with stakeholders to validate and design solutions.
The B Impact Assessment, used by over 70,000 businesses worldwide, including over 4,000 Certified B Corporations, helps companies assess their impact on various stakeholders-- including their workers, community, customers, and the environment. The SDG Action Manager brings together B Lab's B Impact Assessment and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact to enable meaningful business action through dynamic self-assessment, benchmarking, and improvement. Our B Analytics tool is expected to be re-launched in 2023, and provides organizations with metrics to better measure, manage, and improve impact across their networks and systems.
B Lab is seeking a User Experience Designer to help continue the advancement of our global product offerings. We are looking for a candidate who can execute the design process from research to high-fidelity prototypes with a passion to change the culture of capitalism globally. This role will work cross-functionally with our product delivery teams and designers to achieve our objective of merging all of our products into one cohesive product suite and to continue to support our existing products.
Core Responsibilities
User Experience Design (50%)
- Illustrate user journeys and process flows to communicate the user experience
- Create and maintain user personas across B Lab’s product offerings
- Sketch and wireframe designs based on user research, stakeholder feedback, and product insights
- Attend and participate in design co-working sessions and critiques to share your process and to keep other designers informed of your work
- Assist the Customer Satisfaction team by providing updated documentation and images for our customer-facing knowledge base as features are released/updated/deprecated
- Work with Customer Satisfaction team to interpret stakeholder feedback into insights for the Product team to assess
User Experience Research (25%)
- Become an expert in B Lab’s product offerings
- Conduct user interviews, draft surveys, set up task-based usability tests, and gather market analysis to inform your designs
- Interpret analytics to identify user trends and potential areas of improvement
- Work with designers, developers, and stakeholders to brainstorm and execute ideas
User Interface Design (25%)
- Utilize B Lab’s design system and contribute new components as needed
- Design for all necessary states of interactive elements and responsiveness
- Create high-fidelity prototypes for testing, demos, and developer handoff
- General knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript as it pertains to responsive design
About you
- 2 years of relevant experience in User Experience Design focused on web based applications or Human-Computer Interaction
- Versed in HTML, CSS and presentation layer technologies
- Lead user research initiatives, validate concepts with end-users and stakeholders
- Experience with Figma or similar design and prototyping tools
- Experience working with design systems
- The ability to write detailed user stories
- Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex details
- Consider themselves a relentless problem solver, with a systems-thinking approach
- Driven to constantly refine your designs through feedback
- Understands strengths and limitations and is willing to proactively search for solutions and reach out for support
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Must have an understanding and awareness of JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) principles and how to apply them
- Respect for diversity of identities and experiences; an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of business
- A passion for using business to solve social and environmental problems on a global scale
- A growth mindset eager to learn, improve, and apply
- Have a sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an easy-going manner when working with others
While not required the following would be a plus:
- UX copywriting skills
- Experience designing products for global markets
- Knowledge of Kanban or Agile frameworks
- Coursework or educational experience in design
- Experience with Asana, Google Suite, Figma, XD, Sketch or comparable tools
- Experience in the non-profit space
Compensation Details
B Lab has a compensation plan that includes:
- An annual salary in the range of €47,000 - €50,000 inclusive of holiday allowance
- B Lab pension scheme
- After your first year of employment, 40 hours paid time off for community service; paid parental leave; and a professional development budget (we assess this PD budget annually)
- 20 Vacation days per year, prorated to your start date - front-loaded and restarting each January 1; increased with tenure.
