What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Removal Technician position at B&R Auto Wrecking?
Objective: Uses proper tools and mechanical knowledge to remove correct parts from vehicles listed on the work order.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Performs work following all Company safety policies and procedures including maintenance and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
2. Complies with the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy.
3. Understands and follows defined procedures and steps for all parts removal.
4. Ability to read and understand work orders and properly identify what parts have been sold—match all four items from work order to vehicle: year, model, stock ticket number, and location.
5. Demonstrates mechanical and technical skills removing parts from vehicles without damage to the parts, self or others.
6. Communicates with Supervisor when parts are found to be damaged or damage occurs during removal.
7. Immediately reports all spills of pollutants, hazardous materials and fluids to a Supervisor and immediately cleans up spills according to environmental requirements and company policies.
8. Demonstrates good work habits by keeping work area clean and safe and reporting all safety issues to a Supervisor.
9. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions including an understanding of basic safety messages and labels (waste oil, gasoline, flammable, etc.).
10. Ability to consistently follow procedures with little to no supervision.
11. Knowledge of the use and operation of hand tools and power tools.
12. Ability to work efficiently in a variety of weather conditions - rain, snow, sun, cold - for a full shift.
13. Able to work required days and hours which may include weekends, holidays and overtime.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
· Exposure on a regular basis to outdoor weather conditions.
· Periodic exposure to minimal chemical hazards.
Physical Demands:
· Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and lift and carry 50 pounds frequently throughout the day.
· Standing, walking, bending, and stretching are required regularly.
· Must have full movement of arms and legs for an eight (8) hour work day.
· Ability to work at all levels from above the head to the ground including frequent squatting, kneeling and crawling.
· Must be able to safely lift objects using proper lifting techniques.
· Must be able to manipulate fine parts and tools.
Language Skills:
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
· Ability to write simple correspondence.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Required Education and Experience:
· Prior experience in automotive repair or related training/education
· Basic knowledge of computers
· High School diploma or GED
Preferred Education and Experience:
· 1 years of experience in automotive recycling operation or related business (collision repair or mechanical shop).
· Trained in quality assurance
