The Job

The Senior SEO Manager will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive SEO strategies from a content, web, and technology perspective to ensure Backbone drives organic performance that supports top-of-funnel lead acquisition for our clients. As the Sr. SEO Manager, you will support account managers and junior staff, identify new opportunities, ensure strong performance for our clients’ products and initiatives, and maintain a detailed technical knowledge of SEO best practices.

The Work

• Develop, manage and execute advanced SEO and content strategies across client accounts: identify KPIs and goals, including SGE strategy, site architecture optimizations, content creation and optimization, backlink acquisition and other initiatives to maximize indexing, CTR, on-site conversion and growth of SEO traffic.
• Remain client-focused, identifying opportunities to increase engagement through innovation, experimentation and testing.
• Drive towards metrics-based outcomes – e.g., organic search rankings, traffic, time on site and conversions.
• Use web analytics and SEO tools to monitor, analyze and optimize website activity, traffic trends, indexing and SERP performance results, Core Web Vitals, and customer acquisition metrics, through monthly reporting.
• Proofread/edit SEO content marketing projects, weighing brand voice/details, SEO goals and accuracy
• Identify core web vital issues and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Advise and implement relevant structured data/schema.
• Improve internal link structure.
• Provide UX recommendations that adhere to best SEO practices.
• Manage and resolve all 4xx errors, redirect chains, and redirect loops.
• Keep up with industry trends and algorithm updates.
• Identify influencers, sites, and blogs that could further drive organic traffic/backlinks for our clients.
• Stay apprised of – and communicate across the agency – the latest industry research, opportunities and threats.
• Support internal SEO projects and initiatives.
• Mentor account managers and junior staff.
• Develop innovative and creative and integrated strategies.
  
  

Key Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of professional experience
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing SEO programs and significantly improving organic search performance.
• Extensive knowledge of SEO best practices, search engine algorithms and ranking strategies.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript preferred.
• Demonstrated experience implementing successful large-scale SEO initiatives, including external link acquisition, site architecture, and international localization.
• Experience with website analysis using a variety of analytics tools including Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, and internal reporting tools, as well as familiarity with third-party SEO analytics tools such as SEMrush, Moz, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, etc.
