BAE Systems is looking for an Inspector for Module Development Facility (MDF). Under minimal supervision this individual will perform visual/mechanical inspections on highly complex components, MMICs, module assemblies, subassemblies and systems spares to ensure compliance to applicable specifications and standards.
Under minimal supervision, performs visual/mechanical inspections on highly complex components, MMICs, module assemblies, subassemblies and systems spares to ensure compliance to applicable specifications and standards.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works from specifications, drawings, process sheets, engineering change orders and written and verbal instruction to inspect components subassemblies and assemblies against required quality standards (i.e., proper component orientation, masking, soldering, coating, etc.).
• Multi-tasking in our fast-paced environment with delivery commitments to both internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to use a computer and associated software.
• Utilizes a full range of complex precision tools and inspection techniques (i.e., optical set-ups, etc.) for evaluation for product compliance.
• Will be able to use compound microscopes up to 1000X
• Identifies and documents defects and calculates defect rates against specified control limits. Inspects components, subassemblies and assemblies after rework, modifications or repair to verify defects have been corrected and ensure continuity to drawings, prints, etc.
• Verifies configuration of product to ensure conformity to most recent revision.
• Prepares various inspection and evaluation documentation and inputs data into the appropriate systems (i.e., TipQA, Excel) for future review and analysis. Maintains required records. May create and/or analyze other quality related data.
• Performs final inspection and reviews documentation prior to customer acceptance to ensure end product meets customer requirements. May interact with the customer regarding presentation of the product and other product related information.
• Performs data analysis, and first article inspections
• Interfaces with engineering regarding technical issues (i.e., engineering change orders) and problem resolution.
• May perform field return evaluations to ensure returns are repaired within quality guidelines.
• May work with engineering on specialized tasks (i.e., bond room, engineering lab, tech publications & manuals), various prototype systems to set up detail inspection procedures, or other special evaluations as required.
• Provides training and guidance to lower level inspection personnel as required.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum skill requirements are:
• Ability to read blueprints, process sheets and other related documentation used for the inspection of components, assemblies and subassemblies.
• Ability to sit or stand use a microscope for extended periods of time
• Familiarity with MIL-883
• Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes
• Work within a cleanroom environment, following proper cleanroom processes and procedures
• Ability to utilize various inspection tools such as verniers, gauges, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.
• Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to meet specified certification requirements per Company and customer standards. Normally acquired through a minimum of two (2) years in-process inspection experience.
Preferred skill requirements are:
• Certified IPC and J-STD
• Experience handling MMIC wafers and die
• Familiarity with 7S and LEAN manufacturing initiatives
• Can read, interpret, and adhere to technical data, drawings, blue prints, references, ECOs, route cards and specifications
• Ensures all paperwork packages, and labels meet the requirements of contractual and internal procedures and policies.
• Monitors process performance reports findings to supervision and assists in the corrective action/problem resolution process.
• Monitors defects coming back from test, assists with root cause analysis and determination of solutions. Identifies and documents defects, calculates defect rates, prepares inspection and evaluation documentation and inputs data into appropriate system.
• Cross-trains and instructs other assembly and inspection positions in acceptable procedures.
• Accumulated experience of 5 years or greater involving both electronic inspection and assembly functions
• Proficient with Solumina and PROMIS
• Proficient with TIP QA
• Able to create a standard inspection report as well as First Article Inspection Report
• To perform the critical packaging and labeling of parts.
