BAE Systems is looking for a Technology Group Lead to join our advanced R&D arm, FAST Labs. Tech Groups are lead by Technology Development Managers. This career path leads the defining, capturing, and executing contract 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3 research and development programs. Technology Group Leads are expected to grow to become business leaders whose vision defines the future of world-class technology sought out by our customers. Their primary responsibility is the management of the strategy and roadmap for a related group of technologies. Technology Group Leads are expected to be well-known in their technical community and actively engaged with the research community outside of BAE Systems. They use their position, reputation, and technical expertise to create and lead research programs that advance technology for purposes of providing discriminating capabilities for BAE Systems. Tech Group Leads manage a portfolio of research projects on their roadmap, they also provide 1) technical leadership of programs as the principal investigator; 2) the capture of new business opportunities as the capture team lead; and 3) guiding the strategic planning of technology to coordinate investments, captures, and program execution towards overall BAE Systems business objectives. When called on, a Tech Group Lead may be a Principal Investigator, a Program Manager, or a Program Engineering Manager on a project. Group Leads are expected to have quantitative new business capture objectives, focused on new business pursuits and the capture of follow-up work to existing portfolio projects. Group Leads are expected to have significant customer interaction, initiating customer contact to create new business opportunities. They are expected to be entrepreneurial in the creation, shaping, capture, and promotion of CRAD for groundbreaking technologies for current and future BAE Systems products. They are expected to provide strategic guidance to programs and to portfolios of programs to align technology development to business needs. They may participate in program transition planning.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience participating in and/or leading development in the following topics:
- Experience in research and development projects, especially when they lead the customer engagement and business development of the project.
- RF system development cycles including concept, design, build, integrate, test and demonstrate
- Artificial Intelligence as applied to RF systems and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, with a particular focus on hardware which improves the size, weight, power, and cost of implementing these algorithms.
- Electronic Warfare techniques and methods
- Electronics integration and test in a laboratory environment
- Customer facing demonstrations with emphasis on technical, interpersonal, and business objective strategy
