Job Posting for Associate, North America Private Equity (2023) at Bain Capital Private Equity, LP

Bain Capital Private Equity Overview Over the past 37 years, the Private Equity Group has created 22 global buyout funds and made over 370 investments. Our private equity activity primarily includes leveraged buyouts and growth capital invested across a wide variety of sectors. Bain Capital has found that a combination of a strong management team, sound fundamental business analysis, and a focused strategy can substantially improve a company’s income as well as its long-term strategic value. Bain Capital Private Equity seeks opportunities to invest in market leading companies poised for dynamic change and to back outstanding management teams to implement that change. We believe the most critical ingredients in a company’s success are the management team and the alignment of management incentives with those of the investors. Our portfolio companies have significant management-equity ownership as a key part of the investment strategy. Bain Capital professionals are significant investors in each transaction, which achieves an alignment of goals with portfolio company management teams. The group has developed significant expertise in several business areas including technology, healthcare, retail, telecommunications, and industrial and consumer products. Transaction types include leveraged acquisitions, expansion capital, growth buyouts, turnarounds, consolidation plays, private buyouts, public company recapitalizations, convertible preferred investments, and financial restructurings. Description The Associate program is a two year commitment (with potential for promotion to Vice President following business school) and has been an important component of Bain Capital throughout the history of the firm. It provides a differential experience due to the roles Associates play as well as our value-added approach to investment management. The breadth of industries, the multiple types of investments, and the overall deal volume provide a unique opportunity for Associates to gain significant experience in a short period of time. Bain Capital professionals are exposed to a broad set of situations and companies, and systematically develop skills as a value added investor -- not just a financial engineer. Associates will learn how to evaluate investment opportunities through the application of fundamental strategic analysis in addition to the more traditional financial modeling. Associates may also be exposed to a variety of portfolio company issues (e.g. potential add-on investments, liquidity options, improving core operations) and will gain unique operating experience. In addition, Associates will benefit from a comprehensive training program that is designed to introduce Bain Capital's value-added investment approach. As part of this experience, Associates can co-invest alongside our fund across all private equity investments and thereby participate in opportunities for significant equity appreciation. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS Exceptional business analytic and quantitative skills 2 years of work experience in management consulting and/or investment management Excellent professional and academic track record Ability to operate with limited supervision Highly analytical and strategic thinker Strong interpersonal skills Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership REQUIRED EDUCATION Strong academic record at a top undergraduate school Effective November 1, 2021, all new U.S. hires must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (e.g. 14 days past their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and if eligible, have received their COVID-19 booster) or have received a religious or medical exemption from Bain Capital’s Human Resources team. Bain Capital is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
