Bain Capital Private Equity Overview Over the past 37 years, the Private Equity Group has created 22 global buyout funds and made over 370 investments. Our private equity activity primarily includes leveraged buyouts and growth capital invested across a wide variety of sectors. We believe the most critical ingredients in a company’s success are the management team and the alignment of management incentives with those of the investors. Our portfolio companies have significant management-equity ownership as a key part of the investment strategy. Bain Capital professionals are significant investors in each transaction, which achieves an alignment of goals with portfolio company management teams. The group has developed significant expertise in several business areas including technology, healthcare, retail, telecommunications, and industrial and consumer products. Transaction types include leveraged acquisitions, expansion capital, growth buyouts, turnarounds, consolidation plays, private buyouts, public company recapitalizations, convertible preferred investments, and financial restructurings. Description The Associate program is a two year commitment (with potential for promotion to Vice President following business school) and has been an important component of Bain Capital throughout the history of the firm. It provides a differential experience due to the roles Associates play as well as our value-added approach to investment management. The breadth of industries, the multiple types of investments, and the overall deal volume provide a unique opportunity for Associates to gain significant experience in a short period of time. Bain Capital professionals are exposed to a broad set of situations and companies, and systematically develop skills as a value added investor -- not just a financial engineer. Associates will learn how to evaluate investment opportunities through the application of fundamental strategic analysis in addition to the more traditional financial modeling. Associates may also be exposed to a variety of portfolio company issues (e.g. potential add-on investments, liquidity options, improving core operations) and will gain unique operating experience. In addition, Associates will benefit from a comprehensive training program that is designed to introduce Bain Capital's value-added investment approach. As part of this experience, Associates can co-invest alongside our fund across all private equity investments and thereby participate in opportunities for significant equity appreciation.
