Summary

The Project Financial Analyst identifies and assess financial and non-financial risks on significant construction projects to ensure complete and accurate handling of project budgets, cost to compete estimates, change orders, claims, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Project Financial Analyst will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:

  • Collaborates with project management to identify, assess, and address financial risks on the Company’s significant projects
  • Develops an understanding of the contract documents and works with the project team to understand key provisions including scope of work, notice requirements, schedule of values, liquidating damages, etc.
  • Analyzes actual versus budget variances
  • Assists project management in the preparation of monthly financial forecasts, risk assessments / analyses, and other management reports as needed
  • Supports project management in the tracking, monitoring and follow-up of client and subcontractor change orders
  • Develops understanding of the job cost system and tools available to project management
  • Supports project management in the development of relevant project metrics to track and analyzes actual results against the project SSQP (Safety, Schedule, Quality, Productivity) goals
  • Participates in the monthly financial review with project management for the assigned projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience plus 1 year of construction job cost experience or equivalent combinations of experience and education
  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Required travel up to 50% depending on location and duration of assignments


The following competencies are needed to successfully perform this job:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business-related periodicals, journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to prepare accounting and financial analyses which may include, among other things, detailed cost projections, forecasts, financial models based on various scenarios, etc.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and co-workers
