Project Accounting Coordinator
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
(Position is located on construction job site)
Department: Accounting
FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt
Effective Date: February 6, 2023
PURPOSE
The Project Accounting Coordinator will collaborate with Project Engineers, Project Managers and Project Accountants to provide accounting and administrative support related to construction project billings and budgets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Provide assistance with the billing process, including answering internal and external inquiries and providing backup documentation- Collaborate with the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager to update phase on budgets on change orders, as well as submitting change orders upstream and downstream
- Assist with monitoring budgets
- Assist with subcontractor invoices
- Administrative support as needed to support the project team
- Bill jobs (progress billings and/or complete) as turned in by Project Managers
- Create new job numbers for Project Managers
- Enter new jobs, budgets, labor rate, and other data into Spectrum
- Review and update Contract Status Reports (CSRs) and Overview Reports for jobs
- Attend CSR meetings with Project Managers, Controller/CFO, Business Unit Leader, and other management
- Provide contractor tax statements for jobs when required
- Assist in processing and collecting lien waivers
- Assist in the audit of any jobs, as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum three years of experience in a general construction accounting position
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
