Job Description
A QA Tech I is responsible for the quality and safety of Bakkavor products. The QA Tech I must ensure compliance of products with specifications and compliance of personnel with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This position provides oversight, guidance and training of production personnel to ensure the manufacture of quality food. This position is also responsible for identifying product that does not meet the Company’s food safety and/or quality requirements and preventing its distribution. Conducts appropriate analytical testing of materials, work in progress (WIP), finished goods (FG), and equipment to assure compliance with product quality standards as required by GMP, HACCP, and standard specifications. Practices proper chemical, physical, microbiological, and sensory testing procedures. Inspects incoming goods to meet quality standards defined by ingredient specifications. Oversees processing/manufacturing practices; such as Critical Control Points (CCP) and Control Points (CP), and derive raw data for appropriate documentation. Collects and organizes retained, shelf-life, and microbiological test samples per production.
Requirements
High school diploma and/or minimum two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience. Preferably experience working in industry regulated by FDA and/or USDA.
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions and communicate orally.
Functional literacy and oral communication skills in English for safety and following job specific instructions
Ability to perform unit measures, conversion calculations and other mathematical calculations reasonably necessary to satisfactorily perform job duties.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds throughout the required shift hours.
