Position Description Summary
The Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for providing superior service to Members and guests; this position aids in all areas of the golf shop, including tournament operations, teaching/coaching, and retail merchandising, with the goal of positioning BHI Cub as a top destination Club.
Role & Responsibilities
- Create an engaging and memorable experience for all Members and guests, continually providing excellent customer service with a high level of professionalism
- Assist in the daily operation of the Golf Shop and tournament operations, with an emphasis on attention to detail, anticipation of needs, and high service standards
- Coordinate with the Events team to facilitate high quality golf outings and tournaments for Members and their guests
- Lead by example, offering anticipatory service with positive and respectful communications
- Complete all opening and closing duties, as instructed, including completing, signing, dating, and emailing checklists to management
- Daily operation of the POS system: check-in of daily play, ringing up sales and daily charges, recording and entering invoices, processing tournament payments, etc
- Be detail-oriented and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Accept and organize tournament entries, handling reservations, booking tee times, and answering questions, and offering general help, as needed
- Monitor the execution of tournaments and golf outings, maintaining pace of play, facilitating setup, and handling scoring
- Manage weekly events such as the Ladies’ Golf Association, 9 & Dine, etc, by planning, assisting, and overseeing golf event operations
- Aid the Director of Instruction with clinics, camps, group lessons, private lessons, fittings, and other instructional events, as needed
- Be knowledgeable about product and inventory, including tracking and receiving, inventory counts, handling special orders, creating retail displays, and upselling when able to ensure repeat sales
- Manage the outside operation of golf staff, including starters, rangers, and cart attendants, developing and implementing training manuals and materials to ensure service consistency
- Continually seek innovative ways to grow the game of golf for Members, guests, families, beginners, and lapsed players
- In conjunction with Marketing, support the Club’s social media platforms and website content with engaging posts, videos, and programs
- Assist with management and recruiting of ideal golf staff, fostering a productive culture of diversity and inclusion
- Solve problems, work as a team, be a leader, and inspire happiness
- Maintain up-to-date credentials, certificates, and licenses, as applicable
- Commit to continuous professional development, keeping abreast with current industry trends, tools, technologies, and opportunities, attending conferences, seminars, and workshops as assigned
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- High level of leadership skills, positive attitude, and ability to solve problems
- Must possess appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, follow-through, creativity, and a high level of motivation
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both written and verbal formats
- Willingness to learn and accept instruction
- Must possess a positive attitude and good work ethic
- Proficient in business-related software (Microsoft Office Suite, website management, POS)
- Valid driver’s license required
- Service experience at a high-end club or other hospitality venue preferred
- One to two years of golf operations experience required
Salary : $42 - $50
