Job Title: Line Technician
Department: Operations
Location: South Baldwin
Description of Responsibilities:
- Carry out overhead and underground line construction, operation, and maintenance of electric distribution systems.
- Correct any problems on system which are potential safety hazards.
- Perform line construction, framing, pole setting and wire stringing.
- Perform hot-line work and secondary circuits with little supervision.
- Make common connections on distribution transformer, meter/loops and primary circuits.
- Check voltages and determine proper operation of technical equipment.
- Follow maps and routine instructions in specification and staking sheet responsibilities.
- Climb poles readily and work satisfactorily on poles in routine construction as supervised.
- Operate digger derrick and bucket truck as assigned.
- Assist journeyman line technicians on bucket trucks and support for the Cooperative.
- Follow all safe work practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification in apprenticeship school.
- Class A CDL license, first aid and CPR certifications.
- Three (3) to four (4) years' prior experience.
- Experience in operation of equipment such as trucks, bucket, derrick, and line equipment.
- Must be able to lift heavy tools and materials.
- Must be able to communicate clearly.
Working Conditions:
- Duties are performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. Overtime depending on weather conditions and construction of project. Work is performed both inside and outside in all weather conditions. Standby duty on rotating weekends and nights. Extended hours may be required, as well as occasional weekend work and some overnight and/or out-of-state travel.
