What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Dispatcher position at Baldwinsville Central School District?
Assists in scheduling all school bus runs; calls substitute drivers as needed, and sees that all buses are dispatched.
Assists in handling routing and bus stop problems, complaints, and new children within the district. Confers with parents and principals on behavior
problems. Handles the recording and submission of drivers' time cards and their payroll. Checks periodically all buses for compliance with safety
laws. Assists in the orientation and training of new bus drivers. Reevaluates driving habits of veteran bus drivers. Assists the Assistant School Transportation Director in a variety of areas where assigned. Will be required to drive a school bus as needed.

Qualifications:
Must currently hold a permananet position in the title to be eligible for transfer consideration.
For those applicants who do not currently hold a permanent position as a School Bus Dispatcher, to qualify you must have taken the exam for School Bus Dispatcher given by Onondaga County Personnel in December 2023. Upon a certified civil service list being established you must be eligible to be appointed in accordance with all rules and regulations as defined by Onondaga County Civil Service.
Qualifications:
Three (3) years of full-time experience or its part-time equivalent in school transportation or a related field such as commercial bus or truck transportation, either as a driver or having responsibility for scheduling and/or routing drivers.
