Position Overview
As the Manager, Sustainability for North & Central America (NCA), you’re a key member of the Global Circularity Team, reporting to the Director of Global Circularity. You will contribute to the success of Ball by supporting our 3 key regions in commercializing and simplifying sustainability by coordinating sustainability progress within NCA against Ball’s sustainability goals.
You will provide regional customers with the sustainability expertise required to help them achieve their sustainability goals; engaging with various stakeholder groups that influence the standardization of sustainable packaging assessments in North America (e.g. life cycle assessment) and enhance Ball’s thought leadership position by feeding accurate technical sustainability content to Public Affairs & Sustainability, Commercial, Marketing and Communication departments.

What Will You Have Responsibility?
- Lead the development of customer-specific carbon roadmaps and responding to customer surveys and requests relating to greenhouse gas emissions, product carbon footprints, circularity, and additional sustainability KPIs; ensure agreed upon actions are executed.
- Develop relationships with internal teams building a deep understanding of wider organizational issues, challenging current processes and provoking new thinking.
- Support development of customer-facing, data driven insights related to environmental and economic sustainability to drive substrate shift within the NCA region.
- Build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure alignment on global greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water and waste targets.
- Coordinate with Engineering regular Big 6 performance reviews and ensure alignment with global greenhouse gas emission, energy, water, waste and VOC goals.
- Work with NCA Sustainability & Public Affairs team in coordinating Ball’s engagement in technical discussions around carbon foot printing, life cycle assessment and circularity score methodologies to ensure aluminum cans are represented appropriately and not disadvantaged.
- Support Communication and Marketing as well as regional leadership team in developing and promoting technically sound sustainability messaging.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Business or an Engineering related discipline.
- 8 or more years experience of corporate sustainability or environmental projects.
- Demonstrated Skills in all of the following:
- Life cycle assessment
- Greenhouse gas reporting
- Packaging, recycling and waste.
- Project/program management experience
- Analytics
- Communication (clear, concise and effective) and presentation skills.
- Multi-cultural awareness
- Strategic agility
- Building and using internal and external networks effectively
- Corporate sustainability management
- Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: If based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel (10-20%) and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
- Hiring Salary Range: $93,100 - $133,290 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
