SCOPE OF POSITION
The RN – Nurse Manager, MSN/MBA is a professional nurse who is responsible and accountable for the 24-hour operations of a designated clinical department(s) to support patient/family focused, high performance/high commitment care. The successful Nurse Manager achieves these goals by: defining and achieving standards for quality patient care; maintaining regulatory requirements; developing, managing, and evaluating area-based work team performance. This individual participates in development and maintenance of policy and procedures and is accountable for compliance with all regulatory standards.
The Nurse Manager applies advanced knowledge of nursing and management systems in patient care, personnel development, fiscal and unit operations, performance improvement, and program development. This individual promotes innovation and excellence in clinical, service and team performance. Demonstrates the use of innovative ideas to increase productivity and reduce costs. Works to implement and evaluate systems that promote cost effective quality patient care. This position requires the use of critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process.
The Nurse Manager demonstrates the acceleration of leadership skills and business acumen in positioning areas of responsibility for optimal performance in achieving the organization's fiscal and quality objectives. The individual demonstrates an understanding of economic factors impacting health care resources including state, federal and third-party payment structure. Management responsibility includes system, process, materials, fiscal, and human resources. Duties include comprehensive operational/fiscal day to day responsibility with emphasis on patient and team member satisfaction and retention. The Nurse Manager is responsible for identifying financial and quality metrics that demonstrate review of the current evidenced based literature, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives.
The Nurse Manager supports and promotes shared leadership structure and professional nursing team member involvement in activities at the unit level. Creates unit-based teams to develop innovative practices to improve patient care at the unit level. Facilitates team member attendance and participation in hospital and system work group activities. In addition to facilitating activities at the unit level, the advanced practice Nurse Manager actively participates in and facilitates organizational improvement by leading and participating in committees and performance improvement teams across departments and disciplines within the facility and across the system as appropriate.
In the absence of an RN may be required to function in the role of staff RN to support patient care provision. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. The Nurse Manager serves as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for peers and other providers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing program required. Master's degree in either Business Administration or Nursing required.
Minimum three years of clinical licensed nursing experience preferred. At least two years of supervisory experience is preferred. Equivalent leadership experience in another non-healthcare related role may be acceptable with a minimum of twelve months of experience in the RN clinical licensed nursing role.
AHA BLS required
ACLS, PALS, NRP required dependent upon are
National Professional Nursing certification is desired.
Salary : $51,100 - $64,700
