Job Description:
Data Scientist to discover the information advantage in vast amounts of proprietary data. For this position, we want someone passionate about using data for financial crimes detection and compliance with Anti Money Laundering requirements. This person needs very strong data wrangling skills. Prefer candidate having experience with financial products such as banking, credit card, mortgage lending & servicing, brokerage and trades, etc.
You will work with business experts and technical partners to design and support clean, well-structured data for modeling and analytics. You will design, build, test and maintain huge data stores (files, tables on Teradata or Hadoop or UNIX file system). You will use relational database knowledge, basic statistics, and modeling techniques to improve effective use of data/business information. This position will be elbows-deep in data curation, risk feature building and testing.
As a Data Scientist you will work individually and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, test and maintain huge data stores (files, tables on Teradata or Hadoop or UNIX file system)
• Tell the story about the data, including basic statistics
• Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data
• Develop data that is useful for other analysts
• Provide data that are friendly, trustworthy, and high quality
• Employ a variety of languages and tools to marry systems together
• Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
• Collaborate with data architects, modelers, and team members on project goals
• Document and teach about the data (metadata, logical models, source to target mapping)
Required Technical Skills
• Strong SQL skills are necessary
• Strong understanding of database modeling concepts such as tables/views, referential integrity, metadata, etc.
• Degree demonstrating training and experience in data design and use (e.g., Information Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Operations Research)
• 2 years of related work experience, such as data mining or feature engineering
• Logical data modeling

• Strong attention to detail
• Basic applied statistical analysis
• Software Engineering
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
Required Business Skills for Data Engineers
• Good communication skills; both verbal presentations and writing documents
• Able to demonstrate basic understanding of analytics process
• Creative Problem-Solving: Approach data and modeling challenges with a clear eye on what is important; employ the right approach/methods to maximize time and human resources.
• Effective Collaboration: Carefully listen to business partners, analysts, and other modelers to establish requirements and ensure proper representation of information for models.
• Discipline and Organization: Apply structure and order to communication and documentation for data products and Model Management. Minimize risk by following best practices.
• Listen and Learn: Listen to experts, have a curious and exploring nature, continually push self to learn, receive constructive feedback well.
Desired Skills
• 5 years of experience in data analysis and design
• Experience accessing data on Hadoop
• Agile Methodology and Artifacts, JIRA, Confluence content creation
• Bitbucket (or other version control)
• Python and/or SAS Programming
