As the Actuary Director you will lead healthcare actuarial analyses by focusing on healthcare analytics, analyzing financial risk, projections, pricing, etc.. The Actuary Director will develop internal expertise of actuarial services that will enable the Banner Health Insurance Division to expand its product offerings (Medicare, Medicaid, ACO Risk Contracts) in a complex healthcare environment and increase financial statement predictability. POSITION SUMMARY
This position will lead healthcare actuarial analyses under minimal supervision of senior actuarial staff. The position will either have knowledge of, or will become knowledgeable in, Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Commercial ACOs, Employer Plans, Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MA-PD) plans, Medicaid, Medical Economics, and other healthcare data analytics. The actuary will be encouraged to progress in their career development under the Banner Actuarial Professional Development Program.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Lead healthcare actuarial analyses under minimal supervision of senior actuarial staff.
2. Lead projections, pricing, reserving, and other analyses using tools developed in Excel, SAS, Teradata, Tableau, and other software, with the oversight and feedback from senior actuarial staff.
3. Develop/present results of the performed analyses to senior actuarial staff and/or insurance division executives.
4. Participate in the development of actuarial models and reports for the continued growth of the actuarial team.
5. Provide support to actuarial staff in performing IBNR estimates, financial reporting, and rate adequacy studies.
6. Research and compile information about healthcare regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration.
License/Certification: Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation within 12 months of being hired.
Seven plus years of actuarial experience in healthcare; specifically in Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Commercial.
Knowledge of software for data analysis; specifically spreadsheets (e.g. MS Excel, VBA), data extraction and manipulation (e.g. SAS, Teradata, R) and data visualization (e.g. Tableau).
