The Banner Compounding Pharmacy is a state of the art facility that utilizes technology for inventory management, storage, verification of products, and standardization of procedures for quality control. This includes Trulla drug ordering system and automated TPN compounders. The Banner Compounding Pharmacy specializes in custom-made, sterile preparations. This is an exciting new venture for the Banner System, and on the cutting edge of regulatory compliance. We are going above and beyond to meet regulations and working with the State Board of Pharmacy on regulatory changes to assure top quality and patient safety. This is NOT a hospital clean room or traditional compounding pharmacy. We are hiring a Pharmacy Analyst to join our Banner Compounding Pharmacy team in Chandler, AZ! Our Pharmacy Analyst will be responsible for maintaining the quality of compounded products, ensuring all processes and procedures are controlled and monitored in compliance with laws/regulations, and providing training/guidance to other members of the pharmacy team. This analyst may be required to perform sterile compounding, as needed. We are looking for a Licensed pharmacy technician who is knowledgeable on USP 797; previous sterile compounding experience is highly preferred. Our full-time Pharmacy Analyst will work 40 hours per week, 5 8-hour work shifts, Monday through Friday. The start times may vary depending on the needs of the pharmacy, but most shifts will start at 8:00 am. Every other weekend and rotating holidays required in this role, subject to change based on business needs. The facility's operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 am to 7:00 pm. Clinical Pharmacy Services are also included in this robust new service line and are responsible for the management of the Banner formulary, development of standardized system wide clinical pharmacy services, and management of adverse drug event preventions. Clinical Pharmacy Services provides collaborative drug therapy management and educational interventions in patient care to optimize medication therapy, improve outcomes, promote wellness, and disease prevention. POSITION SUMMARY This position functions in a support capacity for the Pharmacy Department to provide information, analysis and recommendations for activities supporting the pharmacy adherence to all regulatory and legal requirements. This position works with operations on reasonable and logical solutions. This entails planning, design, implementation and maintenance of system pharmacy programs including related policies, procedures and processes. This role involves investigating, responding, and reporting accurate data related to pharmacy and serves as an organizational resource for pharmacy and medication management education in all provider settings, including but not limited to hospital inpatient and outpatient, home infusion, specialty and retail pharmacy as well as medication management in medical clinics and outpatient surgery centers. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Conducts on-site assessments, document reviews and interviews to ascertain facility alignment with standards, rules and regulations. Identifies and assesses areas of compliance risk. Documents findings and recommendations and prepares timely audit reports. Supports development and monitors completion of facility plans of correction. 2. Reviews, evaluates and assists in the development and implementation of facility/entity policies, procedures and guidelines as they relate to regulatory compliance. Makes recommendations on facility matters related to accreditations as well as national/state/local regulatory agencies and/or professional standards and best practices. 3. Serves as a subject matter expert on internal and external regulatory standards. Provides education to address regulatory changes and gaps in regulatory compliance. Provides guidance and ongoing support to ensure understanding of regulatory requirements. 4. Prepares, analyzes and reports assessment trends. Recommends improvement strategies and assists with the resolution of issues identified. 5. Maintains regulatory expertise by participating in continuing education opportunities, reviewing professional publications and attending educational workshops. 6. This position has multi-facility responsibilities, as well as involvement in system-wide regulatory activities. Internal customers include: leaders, physicians and all staff engaged in preparation, dispensing, ordering or administration of medications. External customers include: public regulatory bodies, surveyors and state and federal agencies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requires pharmacy technician licensure in the state of practice (where applicable). Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required. Must demonstrate 5 years of hospital and/or retail pharmacy experience or in depth knowledge of pharmacy operations. Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills. Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, and Microsoft applications. Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy and be able to travel. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to utilize pharmacy information system and vendor software effectively. Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills. Familiarity with pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
