Job Description

Location: EDMONTON

Role Description:

In this full time permanent role, you will be a champion of diversity and inclusion.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for assigned Process Engineering activities on sustaining capital projects
  • Apply broad and diversified knowledge of Process Engineering principles and practices
  • Provide Process Design expertise to various projects, working under Project Managers
  • Accountable for project deliverables as a Process Engineer
  • Recommends solutions to the Lead Process Engineer on the project
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to communicate with other engineering disciplines
  • Must have strong communication skills and excellent presentation skills
  • Work face-to-face with client on a regular basis
  • Stationed at home office adjacent to client operating facility, such as oil refinery, upgrader or petrochemical plant
  • Expect 5% of time doing field work – travelling to customer site, pulling drafting records, field walk downs, interfacing with plant staff, commissioning, start-up
  • Engineering to support sustaining capital projects
  • Develops project facilities design from concept through detailed engineering stage
  • Provides comprehensive complex engineering and design services by establishing the design criteria and implementing the preparation of specifications, design computations and deliverables in accordance with project requirements.
  • Process design of equipment which may include pumps, compressors, PSVs, flare systems, storage tanks, vessels, control valves, distillation columns, heat exchangers, furnaces
  • Periodic checking existing conditions of equipment by field visits into the client facility
  • Contributes to the Process engineering design by initiating drawings and calculations, and other documents relating to the discipline
  • Provide design follow-up during detailed engineering, construction & commissioning stages as-needed
  • Estimates CADD support requirements and schedules and coordinates work with Process Lead to meet schedule dates
  • Attends project HAZOP reviews as needed
  • Working knowledge of provincial or federal NOx abatement and/or fugitive emission regulations is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of fired heater gas code requirements (i.e. Canadian CSA standard B-149.3 or equivalent) is considered an asset

Qualifications

  • A recognized degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering discipline, from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in Engineering from the appropriate recognized licensing board, or specialized courses in relevant engineering
  • 7 - 12 years of broad progressive work experience in design engineering or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering / construction firms.
  • Must have engineering experience in an industrial process plant setting such as petrochemical, oil refining, chemical production, power generation  
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to interact with internal customers and external clients
