Job Summary:
This is a Registered Nurse position who will work as a staff nurse in Cardiology primarily for supervision of Stress Exams. Provides supervision of the Cardiac Exercise Tests to include Stress Echocardiography, Pharmacological Stress Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Testing, and Stress Radionuclide Cardiac Imaging (exercise and pharmacological) under the direct supervision of a physician. Records and evaluates theprofessional nursing care provided to patients in the Nuclear Imaging andCardiology Departments. The patient population served includes all patients treated from the age of 14 to geriatrics.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Participates in promoting patient flow
2. Assesses the patient
3. Primary role is to serve as RN supervising exercise tests, stress echocardiography, pharmacological stress echocardiography and stress radionuclide cardiac imaging
4. Organizes tasks
5. Displays leadership and critical thinking skills
6. Performs all procedures with technical accuracy and a thorough understanding of all procedures performed.
7. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system.
8. Demonstrates ability to accurately interpret 12 lead EKG rhythms.
9. Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety and equipment safety.
10. Demonstrates in depth knowledge of EPIC for patient documentation.
11. Documents procedures, inspects all equipment routinely. Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot equipment.

- Demonstrates proficiency while performing any of the following additional procedures :
- RN role Treadmill testing
- Drug Administration
13. Assists in providing optimum care for patients undergoing cardiac testing by possessing necessary knowledge of cardiac disease.
14. Assists with and promotes education and competency of EKG technicians. Serves as mentor to Cardiology technicians and sonographers
15. Promotes a safe environmen
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
A. Active Kentucky Registered Nurse License
B. A minimum of one year in a Critical Care Department with Advanced Knowledge of Electrocardiographic Interpretation.
C. BCLS Required
D. ACLS Required
E. Completion of training on the Supervision of Exercise Testing as listed in the Job Summary above which includes participation in at least 30 procedures during training or previous experience with exercise test supervision.
