Job Title: Cook
Department: Dining Services
Reports To: Dining Services Manager
Summary of Responsibilities: The cook is responsible for cooking and serving meals as instructed by the Dietary Services Manager. Also responsible for cleaning the kitchen area and washing the dining/kitchenware in compliance with applicable food and sanitation codes. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of Baptist Village.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Cooks and serves meals as assigned.
2. Washes, dries, and restocks pots, pans, plates, glasses, and silverware according to proper methods of sanitation.
3. Cleans all kitchen surfaces and equipment according to the posted cleaning schedule.
4. Operates dishwasher.
5. Cleans grease spills properly.
6. Immediately cleans up all floor spills
7. Demonstrates knowledge of proper infection-control techniques including cleaning, storage, and food handling.
8. Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical cleaning solution use.
9. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.
10. Preps all varieties of salads, vegetables, cheese, meat, and desserts as necessary.
11. Empties trash. Takes trash from staging area to dumpster. Take recyclables to containers.
12. Responsible for participating in and supporting the resident centered Life Enrichment program.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be able to work flexible hours.
Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.
Working Conditions:
Exposed to chemicals/cleaning solutions.
Physical Demands:
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must be able to stand for multiple hours in duration.
Must be able to lift, carry, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, push, pull and twist using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time.
Must be able to walk approximately two miles daily.
