As a Barclays Technical Lead, you will drive strategy and transformation in USCB Platforms, focusing on building and transforming API platform to facilitate business growth, commercial opportunities, stability and efficiencies. You will have a direct impact on our customers, by providing them with innovative features, improving our customer experience. You will be challenged with exciting tasks like building cloud native Microservices, high performance Restful API services with security, stability and resiliency at the center of it.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. What will you be doing?

• Building enterprise-scale distributed micro-services system
• Designing architect and driving the development of large features or functionality
• Diving into server-side application logic and working on integration with front-end
• Designing and developing resilient and scalable solutions for any of the hybrid environments (Private cloud - Open Shift, Public cloud - AWS, Azure)
• Driving the development and implementation of next generation technology architectures, designs and overall end to end solutions for Apply platform
• Defining and building transformation strategy and developing execution through Agile frameworks for USCB Apply platform
• Designing and developing strategic engineering solutions to move towards a SaaS/PaaS solution including but not limited to Cloud adoption

What we’re looking for:

• Great understanding of acquisitions end to end journey and specifically understanding of how RFT, Fraud, sanctions and other external systems interact with Core Apply platform
• Proven IT experience with deep understanding and implementation of IT business strategies
• Dynamic leader of software development teams focused on design, development and delivery of client facing platforms, micro services
• Operates with High energy, hands-on as needed, results and goal-oriented approach

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL DB architecture and functioning
• Experience working in a mature DevOps
• Knowledge and experience with messaging and event technologies like Kafka
• Experience with project management tools: JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket
