POSITION SUMMARY:


Barker & Christol is happy to use outside talent to produce great effective advertising. We hope that equates to our growth, your growth, and successful projects for our clients.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Design and layout files according to provided project details.
  • Prep approved files for final output to media or vendor.
  • Work in and supply files from agency approved layout software.
  • Follow agency supplied naming and filing conventions.
  • Make revisions requested by Creative Director and client.
  • Follow and hit deadlines – ask for one if you don’t have it.
  • Track your hours – we’ll provide an estimate of hours or a budget for each project. It’s your responsibility to stay within that.
  • Good Communication: daily project status updates, days/times you cannot be reached, ask questions, be a good listener.
  • Sign and abide our Non Disclosure Agreement.
  • As a freelancer you will work on a 1099 status – you are responsible for your taxes. We’ll keep a W-9 on file for you. Please keep your mailing address current with us. We will mail your 1099 tax files in Jan/Feb for the year prior.
  • Prompt responses to project requests – If we haven’t heard from you within 48 hrs, we will be required to offer the project to another designer.

 

 

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:


  • Access and training to work in our project management system, Workfront.
  • Payment for services rendered.
  • B&C will provide you with Key/Primary and Secondary Contacts you can reach out to anytime with questions.
  • Before work begins for each project, you should receive from us:
    • Project Name – including a Client Code, Project Name and Project Number.
    • Agreed upon estimate of hours or project budget.
    • Creative Brief/Creative Summary
  • Creative Assets
  • Client’s Style Guide or any specific client requests
  • In the event a project’s scope changes, we will communicate with you and re-evaluate hours/deadlines as needed.
  • In the event a project is cancelled, we will communicate with you regarding payment for services rendered.
  • We want you to produce work you can show in your portfolio. Some work isn’t ready to be shown to the public yet. Please communicate with us before publishing any projects you’ve worked on for us.
  • B&C retains proprietary rights over projects produced on behalf of our clients. Please communicate with us if you have reproduction questions.

  • Communication - Be clear on project assignments, or take the appropriate steps to gain clarity, i.e. ask questions.
  • Attention to Detail – Ensure accuracy in all areas of responsibility.
  • Teamwork - Collaborative and compromising, with the goal of creating a cohesive team that fosters a positive work environment. Contribute at the highest capacity to assignments and during formal and informal meetings.
  • Reliability - Be responsible for your work habits, including prompt communications, meeting schedules, and deadlines. Our normal business hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Listening Skills - Ability to fully listen to colleagues and leadership and understand all expectations regarding performance of work activities and service to clients. Take constructive criticism and grow professionally.
  • Honesty and Integrity - Gain the trust of clients and coworkers and strive to be ethical in all decisions.
  • Time management skills - Ability to effectively manage time and prioritization tasks.
  • Confidentiality - Maintain in confidence any business knowledge, owned by either the client or agency, gained as a result of employment.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Microsoft Office Word, Gmail, Adobe Acrobat.
