What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Coordinator position at Barnabas Health?
Job Overview:
Under the direction of Director of Patient and Family Services, the Intake Coordinator will answer the FIVE 9 Oncology Access Phone line and work collaboratively with the Oncology Access Team to ensure timely appointments with physicians in the Cancer Center at Cooperman. All patient calls inbound and outbound are documented in FIVE 9 system. Coordinators will work closely with the nurse navigators and the clinical practice staff. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to receiving inbound phone calls, emails and faxes, appointment coordination, patient demographic entry and notifying a financial counselor if insurance or financial concerns are identified.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Knowledge of computer programs (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, & Word)
- Minimum of two years of related experience in a medical office, hospital, medical call center, or similar customer service environment.
- Type at least 35 wpm.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, professional communication skills.
Preferred:
- College Degree preferred
- EPIC knowledge preferred
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift Working: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM
- Day Shift
- Full-Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Nurse Navigator in clerical functions, which includes but is not limited to: scanning, faxing, maintaining new consult spreadsheets
- Comply with the SBMC confidentiality and HIPAA standards
- Enter appointments into EPIC efficiently and completely
- Mail new patient registration and information package to the patient or send via My Chart in EPIC
- Obtain, verify and enter patient demographic information into EPIC
- Returns patient phone calls by the end of each day with updates regarding appointments
- Triage all new patient phone calls, which includes gathering all medical information and reviewing the information with the Nurse Navigator to expedite a timely appointment
- Updates and maintains statistics on new patient volumes, referral patterns and survivorship
- When setting up appointments, ensure to give the patient directions and helpful general information
